So some people are looking for a really good horror film for tonight? Well, Shutter (2008) is an extraordinary film directed by Masayuki Ochiai and is highly recommended for a Saturday night. This, unfortunately, is not a well-known movie, and does not have a high reputation. Therefore my choice of this film is down to the film itself and not because of how popular it is within the world.
One reason for it to be not well-known could be perhaps that it is set in Tokyo, and speaking statistically, quite a lot of people do not like horror films from Japan such as this, The Grudge etc.
However, I seriously recommend this film as it is very frightening in my opinion and very intense throughout the 85 minutes it lasts. I feel that it is a really unique horror as although it only lasts 85 minutes (which is quite short in comparison to other horrors), it is very interesting and the plot is very distinctive and contrasting to your normal masked serial killers such as Michael Myers, Jason etc. Instead, the plot has nothing to do with any serial killers and is very different to any other horror.
Welcome to my blog which you can use to find yourself some fantastic horror films!

Friday night special! - The Exorcism Of Emily Rose (2005)
WARNING! - If you were terrified of the original exorcist film in 1973, I highly recommend you to consider giving this a miss, because in my opinion it is much scarier than The Exorcist in 1973.
For a Friday night, this is the perfect film to give you a real horror experience. Also, without a doubt, you may wish to highly consider finding some pillows or quilts to hide from what you may see.
The Exorcism Of Emily Rose is a fantastic film basically similar to the plot of The Exorcist (1973), which contains moments of intense horror and very disturbing scenes!
The film was directed by Scott Derrickson, who also directed Sinister (2012). Therefore if you found Sinister scary I'm telling you, this will be very scary at points as well!

The Cabin In The Woods - Another wacky Wednesday?
Anyone had a really wacky Wednesday? Well if so, this is the perfect film to conclude your day! The Cabin In The Woods is a very gory, fast-paced film (towards the end), which contains a huge 'twist in the tale'. It is a remarkable, but rather insane film directed by Drew Goddard, which contains a huge twist at the midpoint within the film. I won't tell you what it is though obviously as it will merely ruin the film ha ha!
Basically, it is about a group of teenage friends, and some being couples, who head off for a weekend at an isolated cabin within the woods - hence the name 'The Cabin In The Woods'.

The Strangers (2008) - really, REALLY scary!!
Warning - this is a very, very scary film! If you are up for an extremely frightening movie tonight then you have come to the right place. The film is an impressive horror in my opinion, and is directed by Bryan Bertino.
The plot revolves around a couple - James Hoyt (Scott Speedman) and his beloved Kristen McKay (Liv Tyler) who, after returning from a wedding reception, spend some time at an isolated holiday house. Soon enough, late at night, the intense horror begins when the couple receive a knock on the door. From this moment, it is not long until they begin to be invaded by three mysterious strangers, whose faces are concealed behind masks.

Insidious (2010) - another phenomenal modern horror
Looking for a really freaky horror film tonight? Well insidious (2010) is the perfect answer, in my opinion, for a late Saturday night. The movie is an excessively frightening movie and is very thrilling through key moments within the 103 minutes it lasts.
The film is directed by the same producer of 'The Conjuring' - James Wan and is very similar to The Conjuring in terms of the plot and the genre of horror being 'paranormal activity'.
The movies revolves around the parents Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson - from 'The Conjuring'), and Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne), and the son - Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins).

The Conjuring - another quality horror film! (2013)
My favourite paranormal film by far has to be The Conjuring directed by James Wan which is full of nerve wracking moments, and sustained "jump scares". In addition to the high quality of fear established, the plot is also very impressive.
The film is set in the year 1971 and revolves around the characters Roger Perron (Ron Livingston) and Carolyn Perron (Lili Taylor) who move their family outwith the city to a Rhode island farmhouse where weird things begin to occur within and outside the new house.

Exceptional horror movie! - The Woman In Black (2012)
Another one of my favourite modern horror films! The Woman In Black is an absolutely exceptional piece of work directed by James Watkins, which contains very spooky, eerie moments, and events which create suspense.
Lawyer Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) is still grieving about his wife's death four years ago after delivering their young baby Joseph. Later, his employer assigns him to travel to a village named Cryphin Glifford to study some documentation that used to belong to the deceased Mrs. Drablow. After making friends with Sam Daily (Ciaran Hinds) on the train to his destination, he travels to the Glifford Arms inn. However, he is turned down by the owner who claims he did not receive the reservation request and there are no rooms available. After being advised to return to London, Arthur goes to an abandoned house to discover it is haunted by a spooky woman in black who merely seeks vengeance on the children of the locals due to the passing of her own son.

Amazing Horror Classic - Psycho (1960)
Undoubtedly, Psycho is definitely one of the best 'old' horror movies I have seen! The film is an extraordinary film containing large elements of mystery, which is directed by the famous Alfred Hitchcock.
The film is based upon an office worker named Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), who decides she is beginning to get fed up with her life. Therefore, one day, Marion is given £25,000 to bank, and she regards this as an opportunity to quite literally 'run away' to start a new life. After a long drive out of town to Sam's California store, she is too tired to continue, and decides to check into the Bates Motel.

Saturday Night's Horror - a bit of demons and spirits and stuff? - The Amityville Horror (2005)
For a Saturday Night, where you are all comfortable in your bed, ready to watch a movie, The Amityville Horror (2005) is a fantastic recommendation.
It is a very frightening movie, directed by Andrew Douglas in which the Lutz family consisting of George (Ryan Reynolds), Kathy (Melissa George) , and 3 children move into a new house in which there was a previous horrific murder previously. Once finding out about the murder, the family hopefully attempt to put the previous disastrous murder behind themselves, and attempt to look to the future and keep their house.

Perfect horror for a Friday Night? - Sinister (2012)
It has to be Sinister, of 2012, possibly the scariest movie I have ever went to see in a cinema.
This film is a remarkable movie directed by Scott Derrickson which contains a few disturbing scenes, and displays great imaginative thoughts through the story-line and the frequently occurring jumps, and scares.

'Sinister' revolves around a writer named Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke), who transports himself and his family to a horrific house which previously contained a disastrous crime, that his family secretly don't know about.

Anyone feel like a really frightening movie tonight? - Unborn (2009) - 9/10
This is the perfect film for any of you horror fans who wish to terrify yourselves as a hobby. 'Unborn' is a very excessively frightening horror film directed by David S. Goyer. It is about a young female named Casey Beldon (Odette Annable) who at first experiences a very frightening nightmare involving a weird dog and an evil child. After telling her friend Romy (Meagan Good) over the phone about it, she begins to be haunted by this strange boy from her dream.

Wacky Wednesday? - You're Next (2011)
Who feels like a really crazy, wacky horror movie tonight?
Well here's your answer! 'You're Next' is an intensely brutal horror directed by Adam Wingard. The plot is based on the Davison family who intend to spend a peaceful and enjoyable time away, for a family reunion.
All seems well at first, until several family members are spontaneously attacked through the use of weapons from a range outside the house.

Tuesday Thriller! - Misery (1990)
Fancy a good thriller for a Tuesday night?
Well, I'm telling you, Rob Reiner's 'Misery' is an intensely exciting thriller, which contains several moments of suspense and shock. The film revolves around a central character who is a novelist named Paul Sheldon (played by James Caan), and is rescued by his 'number one fan' - Annie Wilkes (played by Kathy Bates) after his tragic car crash on his way home.
