Dark Realm - by Ron Fitzgerald - awesome illusionist!

Ron Fitzgerald's 'Dark Realm' is the story of a Master illusionist inspired by the Occult who may actually be in league with evil forces to assure his success. His deadly secret may also bring destruction upon himself, and everyone else in his macabre show. The reason why I recommend you check this awesome film out is because it is a unique combination of both Ron Fitzgerald's Gothic Illusion performances , accompanied very well with a horror film narrative.
This film is not docudrama, not just full of performance footage, but something distinctive. It is something completely different which you will probably have never seen before. Never before in the genres of horror or magic has this kind of film project been attempted. This award-winning independent feature film is based on Master Gothic Illusionist Ron Fitzgerald's stage show "Fitzgerald's Realm of Magic", featuring his dark, edgy, supernatural illusions, alongside a horror storyline to produce the unique atmosphere.

Preview - 2015 Psychological Horror - The Chair

I decided to preview another awesome looking horror which is estimated to be released in 2015.  The Chair is a psychological horror which is created by Peter Simeti, and it revolves around the graphic novel of The Chair if you guys have read it - it's pretty awesome, hence explaining why I am looking forward to this awesome thriller coming in 2015.
As well as being a psychological horror, it contains aspects of strong crime and themes of capital punishment, child abuse, mental health, and the criminal justice system. The Chair is also not really considered as your average horror film, as it isn't like one of your slasher films, where you may find yourself running away from the film to escape the view of a masked man with a horrific weapon. The Chair seems like a very different film - perhaps more of an ugly tale, full of ugly people, and a realistic portrayal set in the realm of fiction.
The film is directed by Chad Ferrin, the screenplay designed by Erin Kohut, and the fantastic story itself is created by Peter Simeti.
The plot of this epic horror revolves around Richard Sullivan (Brian Thompson) as you will see on your right, who is an innocent man struggling to escape execution on death row.

Notice - My Blog Summer Schedule!

Hey guys, as you may have heard, I depart for my holiday this Friday (27/06/14) for my holiday, and therefore my blog post this Wednesday will be my last one until I return which will be Saturday the 12th of July. I apologise in advance for any inconvenience I may cause to any of you awesome horror fans, and I therefore promise you guys awesome content and reviews when I return.
Also, unfortunately when I return on Saturday the 12th of July, I will be following a new schedule as follows-
I will only be able to post twice a week, and the two days I will post on are most likely to be Wednesday and Saturday.
I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys will be out and doing a lot during this Summer anyway, and so I hope I don't let too many people down. The reason for my change in schedule for the Summer is because my family are coming to visit from Canada, and I have not seen them in a long while. I will be working hard to produce the 2 blog posts I have now promised, and will be following this schedule until the end of Summer.
Again guys, sorry for any inconvenience, and I'll put a lot of work into the reviews I do for you guys starting Saturday the 12th of July.
Remember I depart this Friday (27/06/14) and so Wednesday will most likely be my final post before I leave. I hope you guys have an awesome Summer, and when Friday comes, don't grieve, I'll be back soon!

Mystery Thriller! - Devil (2010)

So as promised guys, this article will make up for me rescheduling Friday's weekly post to today, which I hope will be epic due to the inconvenience I may have caused. Also, I noticed huge support on my blog post last night reviewing The Grudge, so I must give a huge thanks to all of you who checked it out and especially those who re-tweeted it on Twitter!
Anyways, I felt that Devil was a rather unique, and different horror than any other horror film. It sits comfortably under the 'mystery' sub-genre of horror, since the audience becomes very curious and puzzled as to how certain events occur. It is a very thrilling film in my opinion, being released only a few years ago, and the atmosphere is insane! It really is a frightening movie, full of creepy paranormal incidents within a single elevator!
The film is directed by John Erick Dowdle, and lasts 80 minutes overall which may seem short in comparison to other thrillers I have reviewed, but it's a great movie. The plot is very straightforward and is based in Philadelphia, based around Detective Bowden (Chris Messina), who we discover is still grieving over the deaths of his wife and son, who were killed in a hit-and-run incident years ago.

Creepy psychological horror film - The Grudge (2004)

'The Grudge' is another one of your eerie Japanese thrillers that is rated very low on IMDB, and I am not stereotyping at all here, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people from the UK aren't very keen in Japanese thrillers. I really don't know why to be honest, but I think this film is fantastic and is very 'jumpy' and spooky for a Saturday night. The Gothic-like 'grudge girl' is what makes this film so special, as she takes on the traditional 'scary girl' appearance - wearing a sparkling white dress, with her black carelessly combed all over her face. This image of a disturbed young girl seems to really startle everyone, especially with some accompanied thrilling background music, occasionally boosted to give someone the unexpected 'jump scare'. This is what I feel really makes this film so eerie.

Top-notch zombie horror - 28 Weeks Later (2007)

Now, you may not believe that a zombie film is classed as a 'horror' film, but trust me, this film fits into the 'horror' genre without a doubt. Also I  must warn you as this is the sequel to the previous '28 days later' which was produced in 2002, therefore spoilers may occur. I would normally watch and review previous films in a saga, but this film is so epic and frightening that I believe it is very necessary to give you guys an awesome review of it!
It is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, and runs for a grand total of 100 minutes. The plot begins with an overview of the first 6 months of the Rage virus, by showing the audience the huge impact it had on London, and how the majority of the people were blood-sucking creatures after this period. The film spends a huge deal of time convey the experiences of the virus that people faced, before moving onto the central concern of the plot, which is for Britain to reconstruct.
The film is based around the re-united family consisting of  Don (Robert Carlyle), Alice (Catherine McCormack), and the children of them.

Upcoming zombie horror preview! - Apocalypse (2015)

Don't you guys just love to chill out by settling down onto a cushion and watching an awesome, thrilling zombie movie? Well, I certainly do, and nothing can beat a fantastic zombie film. However, I am sometimes disappointed if I watch a zombie movie that lacks the quality and thrills that occupies the best, and well-known zombie horrors; ones that hit the highest rated horror films on IMDB.
This is why I am looking forward to Apocalypse (2015), which I believe, will be an absolutely exceptional horror. My reasons for this view, being that over 20 countries are involved with the filming of the movie, and it will be released roughly in Summer 2015, with the filming beginning this Summer (2014). It is being compiled merely by a large amount of horror fans worldwide, which brings me to one of my reasons for my excitement. There will be diversity within the film due to over 20 countries taking part in the filming, and it is not common for so much diversity in horrors.

Thriller for Saturday! - The Birds (1963)

This film, in my opinion is one of the greatest oldest horrors in existence. Now, you may consider this not to be a horror, as I feel that is more a thriller than anything. I seen this film a long time ago, when I was very young and it give me a lot of nightmare's. Also in addition, I felt frightened within a close distance with any type of bird. Although, I am fine now haha.
The film is directed by the famous Alfred Hitchcock, and lasts a whopping 119 minutes, being very long for a horror in contrast to the lengths of a lot of today's modern horrors. The plot revolves around Melanie Daniels (Tippi Hedren) who is a very rich socialite and seems to be a bit of a 'spoiled brat'. After she enters a pet shop, lawyer Mitch Brenner (Rod Taylor) plays a practical joke on her after noticing her, and she decides to return the favour. She travels about an hour north of San Francisco to Bodega Bay where Mitch spends the weekend with his mother Lydia Brenner (Jessica Tandy), and his younger sister Cathy Brenner (Veronica Cartright).

Friday the 13th! - Halloween (1978)

Welcome to another review on another awesome 70's horror classic perhaps proving the 70's to be very significant in terms of horror films. You may believe this is only a horror to be watched specifically on Halloween (31st October), but since it is Friday the 13th, I feel it is a must-watch class. Also, it contains one of my favourite horror characters being Michael Myers!
I feel it is a brilliant film, lasting 91 minutes, and is also well-known in my opinion for a mysterious, and eerie atmosphere due to the intense, and thrilling silence sustained throughout the film.
The movie is directed by John Carpenter and begins with the background of Michael Myers (Tony Moran) as a young child in 1963, on Halloween, who returns trick-or-treating, and for some crazy reason, stabs his sister - Judith Myers (Sandy Johnson) - to death with a knife, and is stared at by his parents who are immersed in shock. From this, the film then shows us that he was sent to a special mental hospital, where he spent the next 15 years of his life, and seemed to make no progress at all after the attempted teaching from Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance).

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) - Awesome horror remake!

In my opinion, usually many remakes of horror films kinda destroy the quality of their older generation film by using overpowered special FX and filming methods etc. However, this is one film in many that I believe was remade in such a fantastic way. Honestly, I LOVED the older generation Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), but being completely honest, I thought the remake in 2003 was absolutely incredible.
The film lasts a fair amount of time being 98 minutes, and is directed by Marcus Nispel. The movie basically revolves around a small group of young adults in Texas consisting of - Erin (Jessica Biel), her boyfriend Kemper (Eric Balfour), and their friends Andy (Mike Vogel), Morgan (Jonathon Tucker), and a hitchhiker named Pepper (Erica Leerhsen) - who are all travelling home from Mexico after seeing a Lynnard Skynnard gig.

Monday night horror! - The Blair Witch Project (1999)

In my opinion, I feel there is something very unique to this film. It's not one of your normal horror films, but instead it is merely recorded through an analogue video camera. Like, the whole film is. You could call it a documentary, but it is not very factual, but it is, very frightening!
To any of you guys who dislike horrors which make use of personal handheld recordings to compile the film, I must say, I was impressed with what I saw in this movie. Most of my friends were telling me to give it a watch, but until about a year ago, I was never going to watch it. I usually dislike horrors of this kind, which use handheld equipment, but I was very, VERY impressed with this. In fact, I was overwhelmed.
I usually feel there is no proper plot to any of these types of horrors, but the plot was clear through this film especially, and there was a fantastic eerie atmosphere sustained through the whole 81 minutes it lasts.

Epic horror for a Saturday night! - Drag Me To Hell (2009)

So for tonight, I've decided to give you guys a wee cool down from The Exorcist last night, by providing a review based on Drag Me To Hell (2009) which isn't quite as scary. However, don't expect no scares or jumps within this film, as after watching it, I thought it was incredibly scary. I remember watching this film in the cinema during the first few weeks of its release, and thought it was very frightening. You could however, state this was due to my younger age, although I re-watched it earlier this month and was amazed with how nervy I still was watching it even though I had anticipated everything coming.
I knew what to expect from the 99 minutes it lasts, however due to the sound FX and many more techniques, I still found myself jumping every now and again.

The Exorcist Itself (1973) - MUST WATCH

Although I label this as a'MUST WATCH' movie to all you horror fans, consequently, I must also warn you. Through the majority of reliable and trust-worthy sources, this is rated, by people all over the globe, as the scariest film in existence. I too, agree. I mean, for it to have been made in 1973 is absolutely unbelievable due to the quality filming and the insuppressible nerves it shocked me with. This is my last warning: Do Not, I repeat, Do Not watch this film if you are uncomfortable with movies which express the control Satan or spirits can have over our body, and if you like 'tame' horrors, as this will destroy you and possibly your sleep for the rest of your life.
Anyways, enough of the emphasis on how scary it is (although it must be addressed), it is a remarkable film, lasting a long 122 minutes full of intensely frightening, yet intriguing and possibly (to you) very disturbing scenes.

Classic horror for a Wednesday - The Shining (1980)

If you have not seen this film, then I'm sorry for perhaps being rude, but you are not a true horror fan yet. However, I, among many others certainly believe that if you give this awesome thriller a watch, you will definitely certify yourself as a true horror fan!
In my opinion, due to the music, the actual video, and the scares, this has got to be one of the scariest rated movies of ALL time. However, I have noticed this to be viewed as "not scary at all" nowadays, and I can explain this. I believe the reason for people to have this perspective on it nowadays is merely since it was made a long time ago, therefore reducing the effectiveness of Special FX, and the quality of recording. Nowadays, it may seem a bit lame, but this film was extraordinary in the 1980s (sending people running out of theatres) , and at the time was high competitors with The Exorcist (1973).

Miserable Monday? - Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

Who is having a miserable day today?
Well if so, I have the perfect solution to your misery  - Insidious: Chapter 2. This awesome modern horror will definitely boost the excitement within your day and will perfectly conclude your day!
WARNING - Please ensure you have seen Insidious (2010) before even attempting to watch Chapter 2, because if you do not watch the first film you will be confused and completely unaware of anything this is happening! Also, if you have not seen the first film, this review may contain spoilers of it! Be sure to check out my review of the first film! - http://horrorfilmz4you.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/insidious-2010-another-phenomenal.html
Insidious: Chapter 2 is a complete 'carry-on' from the previous film, and basically revolves around the fact that the Lambert family unfortunately still have strong links with the spirit world still contained within their family members.
