Hostel Part 3 (2011) - Very gruesome film!

After watching part 2, all of my hopes and expectations in this trilogy were gone. The second part was promising until the comedy began which for me, doesn't fit with horror nowadays. However, the third part of Hostel was surprisingly decent. It follows a similar plot although, it is based in Vegas and revolves around a group of guys again rather than girls.

Hostel : Part 2 (2007) - Gruesome horror

Before I watched this, the thought immediately struck me that this film could have potential since the first was half decent. Thinking positively, ignoring any possible negative sights, I watched it right through to the end. There were some fantastic, gore filled scenes which made me shiver and cringe. However at the same time, the positives unfortunately didn't outweigh the negatives.

The Woman In Black 2 : Angel of Death (2015)

The first review of 2015 has come, and I have decided to pick a new film for everyone, to give you all a modern recommendation. The Guardian has believed this film to be "inferior" although at the same time, an "effective sequel". With ratings varying everywhere, and reviews glowing negative and positive everywhere across the web, I'd recommend this film everyday for a horror fan, however I can't say it was any better than it's predecessor.

A Fantastic Horror-mas!

It's been a week now since Old Nick visited and I have to say, I was impressed with some of my gifts! I would like to wish you all a very happy new year, and would love to thank every single one of you for all the blog support last year, and for viewing my content in general. It was a fantastic year for me, having nothing at first and on the contrary having a lot of views now.

Grave Encounters (2011) - Crazy Found Footage Horror

I watched this film expecting it to be terrible, as most found footage horrors are. I was so wrong. This film is fantastic, and is a close second in my favourite two found footage horrors, just sitting behind the Blair Witch Project. I thought the setting of it in an abandoned asylum was an exceptional idea, and obviously the film succeeded as a result. I usually don't get frightened when I watch modern horrors, however this scared the crap out of me.

Hostel (2005) - Average gory horror

I'm not really a huge fan of this film although it did contain some decent horror concepts. The film is very gory at numerous points, however the torture scenes and brief and to the point. They don't go over the top, or seem unrealistic. It contains an uncomfortable element of not knowing what comes next, which definitely made me feel uneasy whilst I watched this film.

The Evil Dead (1981) - Fantastic horror masterpiece

Wow what can I say about this film. It is a proper horror icon, being possibly one of the best zombie horrors I've seen. For being made in 1981, it is very disturbing, frightening, and also extremely violent. I have also came to the conclusion now that I prefer this to the remake made in 2013. So if I've previously said I preferred the remake, don't take my word because this is so much better than the remake. Sam Raimi created an absolute masterpiece in 1981.

Dawn of the Dead (2004) - brilliant zombie horror

A lot of people complain about remakes nowadays, however similarly to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), this remake was incredible. I mean, most films begin with a rather boring ten minutes summarising the story line, however the first ten minutes of this film are insane. Five minutes into the film, there are already high-intensity scenes, full of shock, horror and pure gore.

Blog News/ Updates

Instead of writing a review tonight, I have prioritised updates. Basically instead of posting 3 times a week - Monday, Wednesday and Saturday - I have reduced this number to just 2 nights. Now some of you might be thinking "Why on earth would you do that?". Well, it's not that I don't dedicate enough time to my blog, as I constantly advertise, and involve myself in the horror community everyday. The quality of the posts is the problem.

Night of the Living Dead (1968) - favourite zombie horror

For me, this film, produced in 1968 originally black and white, is my favourite zombie film. It is honestly one of my favourite horrors of all time. It doesn't matter if it's really old, or lacks in quality. It is a masterpiece. I thought to myself - surely this film cannot deliver such an exquisite horror, after being made in 1968.

The House Of The Devil (1896)

The house of the devil is also known as "le manoir du diable" and is the first horror film ever to be made. You could call it a "horror film" although it really is a short horror due to its short run time. It consists of no sound whatsoever, and contains merely a bunch of random black and white animations. I think it is really funny and cool to see though, as a bat suddenly turns into a man, and it is pretty bizarre to watch. Some of the animations actually gave me goose bumps.

War Of The Worlds (2005) - decent sci-fi thriller

I have always adored this film since the first time I seen it. I remember when I first watched it - I was absolutely terrified, being only a young boy, and I had a pillow in front of my face for the majority of the film. It's quite funny actually when I think about it. Although, I've seen it several times since then and I must admit, it's a really good thriller in my opinion.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) - average action thriller

I began watching this film without expecting anything extremely good at all really. However, I had to watch it as one of my favourite fantasy tales when I was young was Hansel & Gretel. I was rather intrigued that a fantasy tale had been created into a gory thriller, and felt as though I had to see it. Not only does this film address the story,

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) - Fantastic Depp!

Yes, I'm sorry to all you guys that hate horror musicals. Some people argue that musicals shouldn't even be associated with horror. I completely agree, however with the famous Johnny Depp in this film, I couldn't turn it down. After not expecting a lot from this film, I loved it. The acting was incredible, as was the gore content.

Elena - Chapter 8

Malcolm woke rather freshly at around 10am the following morning with thoughts bombarding inside his head as to what had happened the previous night. He looked to his left to see Cindy sleeping very peaceful which was good to see. However, he was still disturbed by her behaviour. Before attempting to wake Cindy without any violence or shouting, he went down for some breakfast. He tidied up the remainders of the wreck from the previous night, and within 5 minutes, he began to make some tea.

The Sixth Sense (1999) - Exceptional Psychological Thriller

What an absolutely fantastic piece of work directed by M. Night Shyamala. Honestly after watching this film I was overwhelmed. Not only is the film itself exceptional, but the film is perfectly concluded with a twist. One that you perhaps may have not expected, however I anticipated it coming later into the film. I'll do my best not to address any sort of spoilers but the ending is remarkable.

Elena - Chapter 7

"Cindy, you need to answer me right now... What's the matter?" said Malcolm, who was clearly trembling with fear. There was still no sign of Cindy to respond to this question, and Malcolm guessed from this sight that something was seriously wrong. Baldo was hovering behind Malcolm, also unaware of the current physical state of Cindy, but made a guess.
